ABOUT THE ARTIST
Through surface design, I have found a way for my drawings to come to life and interact with the world in a meaningful way. I aim to make the world a more beautiful place by enhancing fabrics and surfaces with color and engaging print designs. Textiles and surface design surround us—on the blankets in our homes, the clothes in our closets, and even the notebooks on our desks.
Every day, we face difficult decisions, experience grief and loss, and navigate challenges. I believe that beauty and thoughtfully designed objects have the power to shape our experiences and are essential to our happiness. The environments we create, the clothes we wear, and the hobbies we pursue are all opportunities to infuse joy into our lives and counterbalance the difficulties we face. What begins as a sketch in a notebook transforms into the vibrant print on a dress or the bold wallpaper in a living room.
I feel most fulfilled when I'm in my studio, a hot cup of coffee in hand, with a blank page open in my sketchbook. Inks and watercolor paints are scattered around me, the window is open, and music drifts through the speakers. This practice allows me to dream, make a mess, turn the page, and get lost in the process. I have always been a doodler, a drawer, an artist. My favorite subjects to paint are the things that surround us—flowers, everyday objects, and textures. Using watercolor and ink, I can blend, let the paint flow, and move freely across the page. I am often drawn to elements of the past and have been studying textile design archives. Reinterpreting these aesthetics and bringing them into the modern day is both challenging and exhilarating—and has been an essential part of my growth as a designer.
