ABOUT

You’ll often find brilliant blooms, playful patchwork, and a healthy dose of kitsch in Laura Reiss’ creations. She has a knack for combining the unexpected and believes that mixing styles together adds compelling depth. Her enthusiasm for research allows her to dive deeper into her explorations and pulls you into her uniquely curated world. She draws inspiration from the patterns and fashion of the 1960s and 1970s, claiming that the irreverent attitude, bold color, and rich designs feed her soul. She hand paints motifs for surface design and is currently working on developing new collections. Laura is a skilled sewist, and creates garments, accessories, and home furnishings from both her fabrics and secondhand textiles. Whether she’s putting together an outfit, or making original artwork, Laura aims to infuse magic into the everyday through color and curiosity.

Laura currently works as a seamstress at Lulu & Coco Custom Interiors in Savannah, GA. Learning to create objects from fabric has deeply influenced her perspective as a designer, and she continues to learn and grow every day thanks to her amazing colleagues. She hopes to transition from fabrication to textile and surface design, and trusts that the right opportunity will come at the right time. Returning to higher education has transformed her life in so many meaningful ways, and she’s excited to begin the next chapter of her career.
